Tanya, 10:25am

Tanya's husband was at a golf tournament in Vegas for three whole days, and she was enjoying being free of his constant criticism. But the silence and solitude had its price. She was champing at the bit to contact Owen. Thoughts of him filled every waking minute, and most sleeping ones, as well. She felt compelled to make a move now, while she was alone, but the debacle with the Posse guy had scared her. She needed a foolproof plan.

She sipped her spiked coffee and reviewed the one she had concocted, examining it for defects. She'd driven by some local hotels and selected one she thought was suitable. It had a bar with low lighting and discreet seating. The hotel had rooms for a decent price, and she had loaded her purse with some of her mad money, cash she had filched from the housekeeping budget.

Today could be the day. If she met him early enough in the afternoon, they'd have several hours together. Her husband never called when he went out of town, so she could even spend the night with Owen if she wanted to.

She hadn't been this horny in years. Of course, the dry spell she'd experienced lately was contributing to her eagerness. It had been nearly three years since her last fling. She was long overdue for some great sex. Seemed to her, if her husband wanted fidelity, he shouldn't refuse to have sex with her.

Certainly, Owen would be up by now. She found her heart fluttering at the thought of talking with him, but she was concerned how he would react to her proposition. It hadn't gotten any easier to read him. She was usually much better at that, but even with the mixed signals, she was sure he was interested, so she'd open the door and see what happened.

She picked up the phone and dialed his number. It rang three times before he picked up.

"Who is it?" His gruff voice temporarily put Tanya off. However, she had to admit he came across as 100% alpha male, and she loved that. She recovered her voice and began her spiel.

"It's me, Tanya. I wanted to thank you for your quick reaction the other day when I came to your house. I'm sorry if what I did caused you discomfort. I just wanted to be neighborly." She'd rehearsed this speech over and over so that she'd sound appropriately submissive and feminine.

He was quiet too long, and she had to bite her tongue. Her patience paid off. His voice was less gruff when he said, "That's all right. I appreciate the gesture."

She hummed like a tuning fork at his compliment. "I'm calling because I was hoping I could thank you in a more concrete way, but discreetly, if you get my meaning. I'm going to have a drink at the Oasis bar in the Traveler Hotel down the road at 2pm today. I'd love to buy you a drink. I'd like to get to know you better." There, she'd gotten it all out, and now the ball was in his court.
